Best New Condiment Finalist
We have to admit that there is just a tiny amount of parental pride watching our girl oo’mämē© Chile Crisp take her first stroll down the red carpet during award season. And, we are thrilled that oo’mämē was selected as one of four finalists (among legacy brands like Patagonia Provisions) for NEXTY's best new condiment, an award that recognizes the most progressive, innovative, inspiring and trustworthy products in the natural products industry. NEXTY, as the name implies, has an eye on the future. Judges look for products that are leaders in wellness, from a perspective of Innovation, Inspiration and Integrity.
For Innovation, NEXTY recognizes products showing a truly creative thinking and execution (not a "me too" approach), that uses a newly discovered or rediscovered ingredient, flavor profile, technique or process. They look for products that are predicted to have longer-term impact in the industry. oo’mämē understands that there is a well-established penchant for hot sauces and chile oils, but few have umami and fewer still layered textures. We challenge the status quo and deliver the optimal sensory experience including ingredients that deliver pops of flavor, along with crispy, crunchy and chewy tidbits. Every bite is an adventure.
oo’mämē draws Inspiration from an appreciation for culture. Global flavors are our jam. A taste for travel, the culinary experiences integral to the journey, are fuel on the fire of our passion for adventure. We draw inspiration from the rich culinary heritage of places that can be out of reach for many in everyday life, especially during these days of self-isolation. Chinese New Year in Szechuan… Los Dias de Los Muertos in Oaxaca…life on the backwaters of Kerala, India…Berber spice blends from the medina in Fez, Morocco. Initially inspired by a Chinese chile crisp, we traveled the globe and brought the aromas and tastes of other lands to this concept, creating an entirely new category and bringing exotic to the table in a shelf-stable jar.
NEXTY's Integrity pledge rewards companies with a creative, next-gen approach to clean ingredients, sourcing, sustainability, and transparency. oo’mämē is handmade in small batches, using all-natural products, right here in the USA. Foreign-made products simply can’t make the quality claims we can and often lack the high standards we insist upon. We are careful in choosing partners and purveyors, and we insist on pristine production conditions. We guarantee a quality product, safely made.
Many thanks to the judges at NEXTY for recognizing our efforts at oo’mämē. We were blessed to be a finalist and congratulate our fellow finalists.
First and Second Place Winners Hot & Spicy Chile Oil
The Scovie Awards are presented annually at the Fiery Foods Show in Albuquerque. Named after Wilbur Scoville, the scientist who created the Scoville Organoleptic Scale for ranking chile pepper heat more than 100 years ago, these awards focus on foods with a distinctive kick.
Judging–by 80 to 100 culinary professionals–happens between the New Mexico State Fair and the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival. The blind tasting considers appearance, aroma, spice blend, originality and flavor. oo’mämē was thrilled to win First Place with our Chinese Chile Crisp and Second Place with our Mexican Chile Crisp. Many thanks to all the judges! oo’mämē Moroccan and Indian Chile Crisps are headed your way for 2022!
